Essaouira
First night and day.

With Gita and Tracy, two teachers from the UK we met in our hotel bar. We had a great time sharing a few beverages and trading stories and laughs.

Gita and Tracy had met some other Brits - X and Y who were enjoying some time to themselves after putting their teenage children to bed. They contributed good company, good English humor and a nice bottle of red wine to the mix.

A rare shot of "PhotoMan," as Claudia had started calling me, in front of the camera.

Nice view of Claudia and the breakwater from the North bastion of the city sea wall.

Claudia interprets the day's mood.

We tried, unsuccessfully, to capture the froth flowing over the big rock.

Surf-scoured rocks at the base of the wall.

We finally get the water after a big breaker.

Claudia spied this one.

Is that Julie, your Cruise Director?

View down into the alley.

We got better at timing the waves.

Study of an arch/stair. A vendor had his tacky lamps at the base (you can see two in the bottom right corner).

Looking up from a cul de sac at an artist sitting with her friend.

The arched doorways in the parapet/sea wall house a mix of shops and artisan's spaces. I had to wait a while before the tourists were flushed out of the alley.

Some of the less authentic wares.

A study of this corner complete with feline, colorful doorway, and robed local "artisan" knitting skullcaps..

The young girl was a bonus Claudia pointed out as I considered snapping the doorway. The wide angle lens helped to be sneaky that way.

Waiting for Claudia to return from some shop or another...

Another alley study...

...and a couple of views of a door along the seaside city wall...

There were some interesting men at the end of the alley, but I could capture only so much.

Ever the art historian, Claudia said: "David, get a picture of that abstract impressionist Coke ad."
